more recipes.

i'm a little slow in getting these up. clearly.
so in no particular order these are the most recent recipes i've tried.

pretty good. really rich. but worth it.

from the 'anne of green gables' cookbook. it's REALLY good lemonade.
planning on trying it with limes...

not a huge fan of cordon bleu but this was really yummy and delicious. do it. you won't regret it.

SO DELICOUS! probably my favorite recipe so far. so GOOD. cannot emphasize this enough.

i love breakfast food. it makes me happy. this was fairly decent. not the greatest, but still delicious.

this was okay. i wasn't thrilled with how it turned out. but in the moment, i liked it.

i've gotten some pretty good reviews on this one (steve, mark lyman, and tanner). not as good when you reheat it, but definitely one i'll do again. surprisingly delish.

food. overload.

i have a few recipes to share with you that i have tried in the weeks since my last post. and yes. all from pinterest. and yes. all worth trying at least once.

we start with mall-like-pretzels
these are very good. steve ate his without anything on them which means he liked them lots too.

then we made cinnamon roll pancakes
yes. a heart attack waiting to happen. and gloriously delicious (unfortunately, i have not yet tried them with the cream cheese frosting, but when i do- HALLELUJAH!)

we have also tried easy garlic chicken.
normally, sweet and meat makes me gag but the brown sugar in this is subtle enough i really liked it and would be willing to make it again!

and it's exactly what it sounds like (which is delicious, in case you're curious).
i did not make these as mini loaves because i only had normal size pans. so cook it for at least an hour if you do normal size.

then we did these potatoes.
a little disappointing if you ask me, mostly because they did not look like the picture. next time, smaller dish, more cheese and bacon.

probably my favorite recipe from this whole post: pepperoni pizza casserole.
SO, SO , SO VERY GOOD!
just do it. it will never be regretted.

and lastly we have honey mustard pretzel chicken
next time, i will not buy honey dijon mustard but will buy them separately in hopes of making it taste better.

yep.

and last week's recipes come to you from the lovely Lisa squared!
the first was twice baked potatoes from Lisa Schil!! (thanks much!)
now i know what you're thinking: really, twice baked potatoes? those are like the easiest thing in the world and EVERYONE has had them before. WRONG!
i had them for the first time only a couple weeks before i made them myself. and this is a big deal, because i'm not a fan of baked potatoes. but clearly, you can make them delicious, which is what this recipe did.
i don't have a link for the recipe i used, so if you want it, let me know. i can send it from Lisa's email.

the next recipe was monterey chicken and it came from Lisa Michelle! (thank you!)
really good!!!!
this is the link she gave me for the recipe. if it doesn't work, let me know, i'll forward it on.
i didn't actually use ro-tel, mostly because i'm not a fan of cooked tomatoes but partially because it was getting late and we needed to be done shopping. so, without is really good, and i'm sure with is really good too.
thanks ladies!!!!

and now, for your viewing pleasure: Adrik learning to stand!!!!
the first one is him standing, but the second one is him standing but you can hear his cute giggle as he does it!
LOVE!!!

3 in one!!

this week I did 3 new recipes!!
what-what!
these ones all came from pinterest. again. BUT i do have 2 recipes this coming week that i received from the Lisas of my family- Lisa Schil and Lisa Michelle! (Aren't they great?)
ANYWAYS...
first up was an avocado grilled cheese--SO GOOD!!! steve said it needed more pepperoni but i liked it just how i had it so next time he can make his own.  :)
i found this here.
it's more of a how to than a recipe but whatever, still good.

Next I tried scallion pancakes. These did not turn out for me- too salty. Sad day, because I was really excited about them. (is there really a difference between kosher and regular salt?) and i didn't have peanut oil and couldn't really afford $10 for a small bottle of it...
anyways, get the recipe here but the step by step with pictures here.
i found the pictures helpful but to each his own. and the picture site also has a dipping sauce, which i did not make because i did not see it when i went grocery shopping for everything else.

Last, was southwestern egg rolls. Have you ever tried these? The original is from cheesecake factory but i think i've also had them at chili's or applebee's. still good. and so is this recipe. i really liked them. steve had them with salsa, i ate mine with- wait for it- ranch!! :) and we both enjoyed them. i also had a friend over who had brought her cafe rio lunch and she used the tamatillo sauce and said it was good too. so really, whatever you like to dip with.
and here that is.

if anyone tries the scallion pancakes, please let me know if you get them right, and what i did wrong!!!!

food!

this week's (and last week's) recipes come to you from Pinterest!
shocking, i know!
this is because i pin all these things and never do them. so i started to do them.
the first was 15 minute donut holes from scratch!
and yes, they really are pretty quick.
you can get the recipe here.

the other recipe was for pull-apart cinnamon bread.
this did not come out as well as i was hoping, but this was probably because i stuck too much bread into the pan and the middle didn't get a chance to cook while the sides were able to overcook. kind of lame.
but i do love me some cinnamon bread things so maybe next time, i will do better.
and it did not look as pretty as the picture on the website which you can find here.

and just for kicks, a cute one of my little man.

crazy bread

it actually kind of looks like this (the kind from little Caesar's).
this recipe comes from a wedding gift: millard county centennial cookbook (2nd edition) a.k.a where steve is from. and it is great for when you want breadsticks but didn't think of it until you started cooking dinner and/or don't have time to let it rise. so on that note here it is!

1 1/2 c warm water
1 Tbsp honey or sugar (i used sugar)
1 1/2 Tbsp dry yeast
1/2 tsp salt
3-3 1/2 c flour
butter (melted) and desired seasonings (i used garlic salt on one half and seasoned salt on the other)

mix all ingredients together, adding flour last. Roll out and place on a cookie sheet. Cut into 1-2 inch strips and drizzle with butter. And seasoning of choice.
Bake at 400 for 12-15 minutes. Steve said he'd be okay if i felt like making them again sometime so i know they're good!!!

Resolutions/Goals

Yes indeed, it is a new year. And for some reason, I actually made a resolution! This was done in hopes to feel like I was accomplishing something- both spiritually and physically. (the physically because sometimes you just need to see proof!)
As such I am going to share with you my two resolutions/goals.
The first: to read my scriptures daily.
Yes, this is a typical LDS resolution. But it is one that I needed to make. I haven't been doing so well the past year, and sometimes I can tell. I want to make sure I am at least trying to improve myself and so far I have only missed 2 days. 80% is still passing!!!!

The second: to try a new recipe every week.
This one started before the new year but it's one I really enjoy and want to keep up. I am no cook, but these new recipes are helping me to improve. So far we have tried a potato casserole, breakfast pockets, taco cups, general tso/gao chicken, and homemade tortillas.
And we've liked them all!! Hopefully I remember to keep posting so you can try some of these recipes too!
Please share with me some of your favorite recipes or new ones you've tried and liked!
Happy eating!
