let's play catch up

it's been a while...

i have started my internship at make-a-wish.

and i LOVE it!

i help plan out the kids' wishes, filling out forms, sending requests, and also closing off wishes by making sure all the receipts and forms we need have been received.

i even get to go shopping sometimes for the wishes.

this last week i went to toys r us and bought every single star wars lego they had.

a few weeks ago i went to wal mart and bought $200 worth of toy story items.

it's been fun and i really enjoy it.

they're very good to me and i am very comfortable there now that i have gotten the swing of things.

it is kind of depressing, because as you know in order to qualify for a wish a child has to have a life-threatening illness. since starting there have been about 6 children who have passed away. i luck out in that i haven't met any of the children so i haven't formed the attachment but i see all their paperwork and get to know them through those and what it is they have asked for as a wish. the families are usually very grateful for the wish and often state it as one of their happiest moments in their child's life, as it is a time away from doctors, needles, pain and sickness. there are some very touching stories and i love hearing them all.

outside of working there i have been getting ready for the wedding. invitations have been sent out and at this point it's just waiting for the week of to plan out all those itty bitty details.

we took pictures around the temple yesterday. when i get those back i'll post them for you!

i model for the visual arts department. one of the girls in a class i did head modeling for told me that she had entered a painting of me into the show that was going on in march. so i found it, with help from laree's roommate katie (the one not getting married). it looks like me. but not at the same time...
and i was having difficulty trying to re-create the pose. so sorry....

yeah...same as above...

ENGAGED!

St. Patrick's Day, 2010

and i guess you want to hear the story? too bad, i'm going to tell you anyways:
wednesday evening (st. patrick's day) i went up to west jordan to visit steven for a couple hours.
he picked me up at the trax station and we started going a weird way i was unfamiliar with. which isn't saying much because i really don't know my way around the area anyways. so he pulled into the west jordan city park, right near the police station, and said he thought since the weather was nice we should go to a park. so we played a little on the playground, then went to the swings, then walked around the whole place. (there's a ton of open fields and baseball diamonds, as well as 6 playgrounds)
we ended up at another playground, where no one else was playing and went to the swings again. he was pushing me on a swing and eventually just let it come to a stop.
when it did, he knelt in front of me and asked me to marry him. and the answer is yes!!

so the date: june 12th, hopefully in manti (that's the temple he grew up with, and since boston would be harder to get family to, we went with the temple that meant something to him)
time is still undetermined but will be soon!!
we're really excited!!

Make A Wish

so...as most of you know, i am currently in my final semester of classes.
before i can graduate, however, i must complete a 400 hour internship.
and i don't know how many of you know, but make-a-wish foundation is my ideal place to work.
last friday, i was able to meet with the two directors over program services for the utah chapter of make-a-wish. they showed me around their offices and building (pretty cool set-up) and talked to me about doing the internship.
so, it's not official, but the way they made it sound: as long as i pass the background check, i have the internship!!!
i am SOOOOO excited and i just hope it all works out! i sent out the application yesterday so i'm hoping to hear back from them in a couple weeks...

thanksgiving pictures! except none are actually from thanksgiving day...

so i tried to keep this in order as best i could.

and since you've all seen the pictures everyone else took i tried not to do any repeats.

happy bay!tay... :)um...probably my favorite picture ever! i know nicole you probably have a zillion of this face but how can you not LOVE it?!?!?bay and lissa really wanted a picture together. i guess you've already seen the pouting picture...sorry...the majority of us just hanging out and chatting in the front room.love this one too! lunch but i think he missed his mouth...the kids' turkey making activity. just a group picturedoing my nails... playing rhino/chicken. pretty entertaining...
